Alicia Corcoran-Scott Alicia first donned a pair of dance shoes at the age of 2 and found her niche in life from that moment on. She grew up training with her mother, Patty Simmonds, who later sent her to train in classical ballet with the Louisville Ballet Academy, which is known today as the University of Louisville dance academy. Alicia made her professional debut in musical theatre at the meager age of 8 when she played Gretel in Derby Dinner Playhouse's production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC. Falling in love with the stage, Alicia continued to work as a child performer up through high school. While growing up, Alicia travelled nationwide with Simmonds competing and performing. She has won top awards in the solo divisions of national dance, talent, and cheerleading competitions. She was even selected to represent her homestate as Miss Sweatheart with I Love Dance talent competition and got to perform at Caesar's Palace at the age of 12. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education, Alicia moved to NYC to further develop her career in performing arts. She spent two and a half years there studying, auditioning, and performing alongside some of the world's finest talent. She continued to study dance at the famous Broadway Dance Center and Steps on Broadway, and participated in musical theatre workshops acting and singing. Alicia spent six months of her time in NYC working for the international touring company SPIRIT OF THE DANCE. She was a member of this company's first American cast of BROADWAY! THE STAR-SPANGLED CELEBRATION, which had its debut in Branson, MO. Alicia has performed in numerous professional productions including: A CHORUS LINE, WILL ROGERS FOLLIES, 42ND STREET, JOSEPH..., CHILDREN OF EDEN, GREASE, CATS, and THE MUSIC MAN. Also while in NYC, Alicia met and married Gabriel Scott. She moved back to her hometown of Jeffersonville in 2005 to nest with him and take over the family business. Today, Gabriel and Alicia perform locally with Derby Dinner Playhouse and are a successful choreography team for local theatrical productions. They are staff members for Spirit Over the Water Productions, a theatrical production team founded by Patty Simmonds and are featured performers with this team at the new Riverstage venue, located at the foot of Spring St. in downtown Jeffersonville. Alicia spent two years teaching middle school Language Arts for Greater Clark County Schools, but now she is the preschool director at Simmonds. Alicia's favorite job to date, however, is that of mother to her and Gabriel's two beautiful children, Sebastian and Serena. |

Gabe Scott
Born in Mazatlan, Mexico, Gabe had firsthand experiences with Latin music and dance. Always interested in the performing arts, he developed an understanding of body mechanics from an early age as he performed in every single dance, music, and/or theater festival in school since the second grade. “I will never forget my first choreography, ‘Santa Rita’ I knew then I wanted to dance forever.” He explains. “I was only 8 years old then.” He adds. At the age of 15, Gabe moved to Mexico City where he began his formal dance training with the Mexican School of Ballroom Dance acquiring the title of principal dancer in only two years. Tirelessly, he worked his way into many important dance companies such as Latin Tango (Argentine Tango), Traditions & Expressions from Argentina (Malambo), Mexican Folkloric Ballet (Mexican Folk Dance), Cuicoyan School of Dance (Ballet, Jazz, Musical Theater), and several other independent companies where he had the opportunity to act and dance. However, he gives credit to his former instructors Javier Juarez and Lucina Wong from the Mexican School of Ballroom Dance & Dance Co. for showing him the way into, what he considers, his favorite style, Salsa Dance. Most of his Salsa training was with the MSBD; however, he has taken lessons from the best of the best including Eddie Torres and Victor & Gaby as well as several workshops in San Diego, Vegas, Chicago, and L.A. In 2002 he moved to New York City to further his Salsa training and was invited to be part of Salsa Magic Dance Co. But, life had different plans for Gabe and after meeting his wife Alicia, he moved, once again, to Jeffersonville, IN. Once there, he got down to business and landed a few roles with Spirit over the Water productions, not only dancing, acting, and choreographing, but as well as directing. Now, as co-owner of Simmonds Performing Arts, Gabe is looking forward to expand his Salsa tradition by forming his own dance company “Mi Salsa es su Salsa Dance Co.” Let’s join Gabe “The Salsa Whisperer” in this road to happy dancing.
